Eric Haeger:
MD
We
are pleased to have Dr. Haeger working for Family Health
Centers one day per week. He graduated from Loma
Linda University, Loma Linda, CA with an MD. His
residency was done in Family Medicine, Highland
Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Dr. Haeger also
works at Three Rivers Hospital, Brewster WA as a Family
Physician with obstetrics and C-Section and he is the
Medical Director of the Sleep Medicine Center.

Roy Huffstetler: PA-C
(Physician
Assistant-Certified)
Roy obtained his Master of Physician Assistant Studies
from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston,
TX; Master of Arts, Secondary Science Instruction,
minors in biology and chemistry from Adams State
College, Alamosa, CO and a BS in Geology from the
University of Georgia, Athens, GA.
Roy came to Family
Health Centers from Fruita, CO along with his wife,
Amanda Segars-Huffstetler and their 3 boys.

Joseph Matel:
MD
Dr. Matel obtained his BA in Biology at St. John's
University in Collegeville, MN and received his Medical
Degree from the University of Minnesota. He did
his residency at Santa Rosa Family Medicine in Santa
Rosa, CA and graduated in 2009. Followed by an OB
Fellowship at the University of New Mexico in
Albuquerque, NM where he graduated in 2010. Dr. Matel's
special interests include Obstetrics, Women's health,
Sports Medicine and Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Matel appreciates
all of the outdoor activities in Central Washington and
looks forward to practicing full spectrum family
medicine with integrative and preventative medicine as
staples of healthy living. |

James Wallace:
MD MPH
Dr. Wallace is a Physician, Family Practice w/OB and
cesarean deliveries. He obtained his BS in Biology at
the University of South, Sewanee TN. Graduate school was
in Masters of Public Health at University of North
Carolina School of Public Health; Medical school: MD,
University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
Dr. Wallace did his residency at the University of North
Carolina Hospitals, Department of Family Medicine,
Chapel Hill North Carolina. Dr. Wallace can speak
Spanish and Indonesian. He is especially
interested in family centered and community oriented
primary care with emphasis on prevention, education and
empowerment for healthy living.
"I am excited to join
the Family Health Centers family and help promote health
and well-being in Okanogan County. My wife,
Jacquelyn, and I look forward to settling down after
many years of training, and are eager to explore the
rivers, lakes, trails and mountains around Brewster.
We bring with us a die-hard love of Texas football and
Carolina basketball, eternal disagreement between beef
brisket and pulled-pork barbeque, and a love of home
grown vegetables, good food and international recipes
that we hope to share with new friends!" |

Jason Tucker: DDS
Dr.
Tucker attended Colorado State University where he
majored in Biology and obtained two minors, one in
Spanish and the other in Anatomy. He then attended
the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine
where he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
Dr. Tucker enjoys learning Spanish and spending time in
the outdoors by riding his bike, snowboarding and
touring the country. He is excited about serving
the people of Okanogan County and looks forward to
learning about life in rural Washington.

Richard
Beukema: MD
/ Medical Director
Dr. Beukema was born in Paris, France where he lived for
nine years. Later he moved to Boston where he went to
high school and attended Harvard College. During high
school and college, Dr. Beukema was a springboard and
platform diver who competed in the Division 1 National
Championships in 1995. After college, he worked for
AmeriCorps for a year in St. Croix, USVI in a group
foster home with up to 10 children in his care.
Subsequently, he worked in a wilderness intervention
program in the desert of southern Utah for 18 months. In
1998, he enrolled in the Temple University School of
Medicine in Philadelphia. After graduating from Temple,
he completed a family practice residency at the
University of Utah in Salt Lake City and was chief
resident during his third year. He stayed at the
University of Utah for an additional year as an
Obstetrics Fellow. He married Dr. Miranda Raiche in 2004. They
enjoy alpine and rock-climbing, back-country skiing,
bicycling, and traveling to Latin America and Asia.

Michael Blue: DO
Dr.
Blue comes to us from Cannon Falls, Minnesota. He
has obtained a BS in Geography/Asian studies at the
University of Iowa; a BS in Nursing at Grandview college
in Des Moines, IA; an MS in Adult Education at Drake
University in Des Moines, IA; Phd(C) in Higher Education
at Iowa State University, Iowa City, IA and a DO at the
University of Osteopathic Health Science, Des Moines,
IA.
He did his
residency at the Mayo Family Practice in Des Moines, IA.
He is also board certified in Family Medicine/Rural
Community Medicine.
Dr. Blue has moved
here to be closer to family and take one more step in
the adventure of living.

Kitty Carmichael:
ARNP (Nurse Practitioner)
Kitty Carmichael, ARNP, attended Shoreline Community
College AD Nursing; Seattle University; BSN University;
and the University of Washington, Master Nursing, Family
Nurse Practitioner.
Kitty was a
Diabetes Educator and ARNP in Arlington, WA where her
patient practice was mostly people with Diabetes; she
was also involved with the American Diabetes
Association. While visiting her home in Carlton,
WA she started a Diabetes Support Group for Room 1 in
Carlton, WA with the help of Charlene Burns.
She was involved
in Medical Missions to Guatemala for several years;
enjoys the Hispanic culture and feels this position is a
good fit for her. Kitty also enjoys quilting with
the group at Bee Hive Quilt shop.

Ned Hammar:
MD
Dr.
Hammar was raised in the tiny Eastern Oregon town of
Halfway. Here he grew up building fence, throwing
hay bales and later working as a whitewater river guide.
His parents had served for six years in a hospital in
Haiti, where he was born, and to them he attributes his
desire to help others. He believes in the idea from (the
real) Dr. Patch Adams that "the health of the individual
cannot be separated from the health of the family, the
community, and the world".
After graduating from Wesleyan University in Connecticut
with a major in chemistry and a minor in dance, Dr.
Hammar worked for two years in the Peace Corps in South
Africa. In South Africa he decided to study to
become a doctor. Upon his return to the U.S. he attended
medical school and Johns Hopkins University in
Baltimore, and after graduating moved back to Oregon to
be closer to his family. He completed his
residency in family practice at Swedish Providence in
Seattle. Here he met the love of his life, Dr.
Lissa Lubinski, they were married in 2009. |

Amanda
Segars-Huffstetler: PA-C
(Physician
Assistant-Certified)
Mandi obtained her BA/BS and her MS in Biology at
Western WA University. She also attended the
University of Texas Medical Branch. Mandi is especially
interested in women's health and preventive care.
She is also proficient in clinical Spanish. Mandi is
excited to be back in Washington to be closer to her
family; living in a beautiful community and working at a
community health center. |

Don Leach:
Pharm D
Don Leach is our Pharmacy Manager working
out of Okanogan & Brewster clinics. Don graduated from
Washington State University with a B. Pharmacy degree;
from the University of Kentucky with a PharmD; and from
the University of Colorado with an MSHA degree. He has
been a Director of Pharmacy for 7 1/2 years over his
career at Doctors Hospital Family Practice Training
Program in Seattle and Cascade Valley Hospital in
Arlington, WA. He spent 8 years as Assistant Professor
of Clinical Pharmacy at WA State University in Spokane.
At Cascade Valley, he spent 11 additional years in
various management positions and was active in
professional association service in various offices;
such as a board member and Executive Director of WA
State Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Over the last
few years Don has been practicing pharmacy as the store
owner/Pharmacist of Cascade View Pharmacy, and retail
Pharmacist for Rite-Aid, Bi-Mart and Central WA Hospital
Pharmacies.
In 2005, Don and his lovely spouse Janice
decided to move to Wenatchee, WA as owners of Cascade
View Pharmacy. Over the last few years they have
enjoyed the weather, outdoor activities and the pace of
life in this area. "We like having easy access to our
family who still live on the I-5 corridor in Western
WA. We enjoy spending as much time as possible with our
grown children as well as our three handsome and
brilliant Grandsons." |

Kris Olson: RPh
Kris Olson is our
Pharmacist working out of Okanogan and Brewster.
Kris received his
Bachelors degree in Pharmacy from Washington State
University in 1987. He is in the process of
learning Spanish and enjoys golfing, camping, fishing,
gardening and playing with his 2 kids. Kris enjoys working with the wonderful people here and
feels Okanogan county is a wonderful place to live and
raise his kids.

David Pruett:
Pharm D
David Pruett is our Pharmacist in the Okanogan clinic.
David received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a
Masters in Business Administration from Mercer
University in Atlanta, GA in April 2000. He was
the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services at
Community Health Care of Pierce County for seven years
before joining Family Health Centers. David was
also an Adjunct Professor at the University of
Washington and lectured on Diabetes, Adult
anticoagulation, smoking cessation and was a Preceptor
to many pharmacy students from the University of
Washington and Washington State University. He
also has professional interests in Medical Therapy
Management (MTM) and how it can effect patient outcomes.
David is the father
of four children who live in Spanaway, WA with their
mother. His hobbies include reading, writing,
hiking, biking, fishing and hunting.

Robert Dillard: DDS

Doctor Dillard attended Washington State University on a
football scholarship. He then attended the University of
Washington in Seattle where he graduated a Doctor of Dental Surgery.
He and his wife Kari enjoy all the riches north
central Washington has to offer. |

Janie Busk:

(Doctor of Dental
Medicine)
Dr.
Janie Busk received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree
from the Case Western Reserve University of Dental
Medicine. She also retains a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Chemistry from the University of Puget Sound. Janie
grew up in Eastern Washington and is glad to be a part
of this area where she greatly enjoys camping and reading
good books. |

Ryan Busk:
DMD
(Doctor of Dental
Medicine)
Dr. Ryan Busk was
granted a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from
the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. He
Received his dental training at the University of
Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA
graduating with a doctorate in medical dentistry. He
and his wife Janie moved to the Okanogan valley in the
summer of 2008 to start work with Family Health
Centers. Dr. Busk loves to ski in the winter and ride
his bike during the summer as well as take a backpacking
trip or two every year. He also enjoys growing
vegetables in his garden and reading a good book.

Alexandria (Alex)
Egusquiza: Dental Hygienist, RDH
Alex attended Shoreline Community College Dental Hygiene
Program in Seattle, WA. She knows American Sign Language
and is currently learning Spanish & Basque languages.
Some of her many interests are nutrition, general
research/continued education, animal husbandry,
homesteading, gardening, camping, art, sculpting, Sci-Fi
fantasy and historical fiction.
“I appreciate the ability to use my knowledge and
education to its fullest here at FHC and the opportunity
to expand into the Dental Outreach Program with Dr.
Hammelman. I am looking forward to learning and
practicing Spanish, working with such an awesomely
varied community and learning something new from each
person I meet.”

LaVonne Hammelman:
DMD
(Doctor of Dental
Medicine)
Dr.
Hammelman completed her Bachelors degree in Dental
Hygiene at Oregon Health and Sciences University.
From there she attended the Arizona School of Dentistry
and Oral Health where she was awarded her Doctorate of
Dental Medicine. She also obtained her MPH (Master
of Public Health) at A.T. Still University. Dr.
Hammelman did her Residency right here with Family
Health Centers in November, 2009 and she was in a
clinical Fellowship in the care of Special Needs Dental
Patients at the University of Washington, DECOD program
(Dental Education in the Care of Persons with
Disabilities).
Dr. Hammelman has
a special interest in Public Health dentistry, Community
Outreach and Disease Prevention. She especially
enjoys treating medically complex patients and patients
with special needs. She is also working on
improving conversational Spanish and Russian.
Prior to attending dental school in Arizona, Dr.
Hammelman lived and worked in the Okanogan. She is
excited to have the opportunity to return and practice
at Family Health Centers. LaVonne enjoys taking
advantage of the four seasons outdoor opportunities
here, the great seasonal produce offered and living
closer to her family, who reside in Oregon. |

Jacqueline Chambers:
CNM
(Certified Nurse Midwife)
Jackie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing
degree from Washington State University. After
graduating from WSU, she worked as a Head Start day care
nurse for the Colorado Migrant Program in Denver,
Colorado and then spent the next six years as a staff
and night charge nurse first in the orthopedic ward, and
then labor and delivery in several hospitals in
Washington State. Jackie then received her Masters in
Nursing degree with nurse-midwifery focus from the
University of Minnesota. Her career path as a Certified
Nurse Midwife has also taken her out-of-state to Texas
Tech University in El Paso, Texas; to LAC-USC,
Nurse-Midwifery Services in Los Angeles, California; and
Childbirth Services in Santa Barbara, California. |

Laurel Naman:
ARNP
(Advanced Registered
Nurse Practitioner)
Laurel received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from
the University of California. From there she attended
Cabrillo College in Aptos California where she received
her Registered Nursing degree. After having already
accomplished these things she went on to attend Stanford
University in Palo Alto California where she received
her Family Nurse Practitioner degree. Laurel is
certified with The American Nurses Credentialing Center
ANCC and as been with Family Health Centers since
1997. She is a devoted dog owner whose interests
include gardening and tea parties. |

Rick
Welton: MD
Dr. Rick Welton
received his medical degree from the University of
British Columbia. He then completed rotating
internships with Edendale Hospital in South Africa and
Royal Alexandra and University Hospitals in Canada. Dr.
Welton has held hospital appointments with Grace
Hospital, Colonel Belcher Hospital, and Calgary General
Hospital in Canada. He is Board Certified in Family
Medicine and has been with FHC since 1997.
